A common question is how big is a follicular unit? A follicular unit is essentially one, two or three hairs that are grouped together that share the same root system or germinal center of the hair. So an individual hair that has a one hair coming from it in one follicular unit typically is about 0.4, five millimeters wide, a double unit follicular unit where it has two hairs coming from it is typically about 0.8, five millimeters in a triple is slightly larger than that. For that reason, I like it. Point nine millimeter punch size as the best punch size for most patients.
